Approaching Ragusa by car, you are presented with a ffascinating scene as the town comes into view.

The oldest part of the town is called Ibla and is situated on a hill top with all sorts of buildings piled on top of one another, clinging to the walls of the gorge and connected by a labyrinth of cobbled paths and steps. The hill itself and the slopes are surrounded by churches, convents and rich palaces which all seem to have been sculptured out of the rock.

This magical town is reminiscent of medieval times but is undoubtedly Baroque in style. Its breath-taking beauty has captured the imagination of many, and as such it has been nominated a UNESCO World Heritage Town.
