Marzamemi is a small fishing village just 20km outside of Noto. This ancient town takes its name from the arab word Marsà al-hamām which means “Bay of the Turtle Dove”, as they stop here on their migratory journey to Africa. Today the village ouzes charm and colour with an array of delightful restaurants to choose from in a wonderful setting. Colourful flowers drip from carefully maintained windowsills and there are a number of charming boutiques to browse. This is a wonderful place to stop for lunch, dinner or an aperitif after spending the day on one of the nearby beautiful beaches.
Pozzallo is only a short distance from Modica, Scicli, Ragusa and Noto, four of the eight Baroque treasures in Val di Noto with UNESCO world heritage status. Pozzallo is a marine and fishing tourist centre – the only sea town in the province of Ragusa. The golden beaches are beautiful – the crystal clear waters of the sea and the wonderful countryside are very interesting both historically and culturally. The tourist connections with the island of Malta are particularly well organised with a daily return service available to the Island of Knights.
